Once you register with ConnectiCare, you will have the ability to check your healthcare spending, find out what’s covered by your plan, determine the cost of a test or treatment, make payments, and view your claims. The first step is to sign in to the Member Center.¹⁰

How Behavioral Health Coverage Works

ConnectiCare partners with Optum to provide mental and behavioral health services, including substance use disorder treatment, so your care is delivered through the Optum network. Treatment must be pre-authorized through the Behavioral Health Program before you begin. 

Once you have pre-authorization, you can use your ConnectiCare plan to pay for detox and treatment. It is worth verifying your benefits first to see exactly what is covered for your situation.

Types of ConnectiCare Insurance Plans

ConnectiCare offers insurance plans for individuals, families, and businesses. ² The two main categories for individual plans are Access Health CT Plans and Solo Plans. ^3,2

Access Health CT Plans

These plans are offered through the state health insurance marketplace. When you select one of these plans, you will choose from the many doctors available and have the option to participate in virtual appointments. Also, you can go to any Connecticut hospital.³ The Access CT plans have different metal levels, depending on which one you select. The 3 metal levels are Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The Gold level plans pay an average of 80% of covered services, the Silver an average of 70%, and the Bronze an average of 60%.⁴

The specific plans available through Access CT include the following:

Passage Plan: With this plan, you select a doctor who accepts Passage, and they will help coordinate care. Additionally, the primary care practitioner will refer you to specialists as needed. With the Passage plan, you only have the Bronze level metal option. ⁴

Choice Plans: These plans work with the various metal levels and allow you to choose providers, hospitals, and facilities in-network. The network covers Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Within the Choice health plan, the following options are available:⁴

• Choice Gold Standard POS
• Choice Gold Alternative POS with Dental
• Choice Silver Standard POS
• Choice Bronze Alternative POS with Dental
• Choice Bronze Standard POS HAS
• Choice Bronze Standard POS

SOLO Plans

The solo plans coordinate with a wide network of doctors. Some SOLO plans allow you to save money tax-free in a HSA so you can use the money later for medical expenses.³

• Choice SOLO HMO HSA $6,500 deductible Bronze

Finally, ConnectiCare coordinates with Medicare for the Medicare Advantage option. Under this option, you can select one of several different plans, such as: ⁶
